Bright prints and stable sizing after washing start with the right fabric, correct printing and checks before cutting.
Colorfastness is how well a color resists fading or bleeding when washed, rubbed or exposed to light. Sublimation on polyester is generally very colorfast because the dye is inside the fiber. Problems usually come from:
Synthetic knits can shrink slightly after the first washes, and heat from sublimation pressing can also change dimensions. We pre-check fabric by pressing and washing a sample before cutting, then allow for any change in the pattern.
| Check | When | Typical target |
|---|---|---|
| Shrinkage after wash | Before cutting | Within your agreed tolerance (commonly ±3–5%) |
| Color vs strike-off | During printing | Visually matched under daylight |
| Rub test (crocking) | On request | Per your standard |
If you need formal test reports (for example ISO 105 colorfastness or ISO 6330 domestic washing), we can arrange testing at an independent lab at extra cost.
Wash cold, inside-out, and avoid tumble drying and fabric softener. See how to care for sublimated apparel.

Properly sublimated polyester holds color very well. Hot washes and tumble drying are the main causes of fading.
